Matcha Bowls and Accessories

Matcha kits from a single bamboo whisk to a full twelve-piece ceremony set. Most combine the same core tools — a bamboo chasen, a ceramic chawan bowl, a chashaku scoop and a holder that keeps the whisk's prongs open between uses — and differ in the extras: sifters, caddies, spouted bowls, electric frothers and bamboo stands.

If you are starting out, a kit with a sifter is worth the few extra dollars: unsifted powder is the main reason home-made matcha comes out lumpy. Matcha powder is not included unless a listing says so. Rinse a bamboo whisk in clear water and let it dry on its holder; it should never go in the dishwasher.
